MANTUA TOWNSHIP ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

The Township Committee has made the redevelopment of abandoned, underutilized and unclean properties a priority in our community. Mayor Timothy Chell, Economic Committee Liaison Sharon Lawrence and the entire Township Committee charged the Mantua Township Economic Development Committee with aggressively pursuing the revitalization of our community. The MTEDC reached out to local, county, state and federal agencies to identify, assess and receive over $251,400 in grant funds to aide in this revitalization effort. Agencies such as The United States Department of Environmental Protection, NJ Department of Environmental Protection, NJ Economic Development Authority and the Gloucester County Economic Development Office, just to name a few.
Township Panel & NBA Stamp Redevelopment Team - Working together to Redevelop Bownsfield Sites In Mantua Township New Jersey
The MTEDC and its redevelopment team have utilized these grant funds by identifying areas in need of redevelopment, assessed areas of concern, partnered with various site owners to move forward in their revitalization process and attracted redevelopers to numerous properties within Mantua Township that were once thought to be underutilized. We commend the Mantua Township Planning Board and other local and county offices for working with us to achieve these goals. The MTEDC believes strongly that through partnership efforts anything can be accomplished!! |
Meetings: This volunteer committee is made up of representatives from local businesses, civic organizations and residents in our community. Meetings are held on the 2nd Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the MUA Building. Meeting Dates are: March 9; April 13; May 11; June 8; July 13; August 10; September 14; October 12; November 9; December 14. |

To promote revitalization in an underutilized area on Lambs Road, the Township and Planning Board Committees approved, in November 2007, an amended redevelopment plan, which included the proposed uses for the Total Turf Experience Redevelopment Project area. They will be constructing a 42,000 sq. ft facility to introduce indoors sports and wellness management to Mantua Township, in addition to a 30,000 sq. ft. operations building and plans to create two large outdoor fields for soccer, lacrosse and field hockey games along with three baseball fields. All that from teamwork and the determination that all properties can be built to their potential, even those in redevelopment areas. |
